Improvement of condition of cardiovascular and psychological systems during retreat

During the last retreat we decided to demonstrate to the participants how the condition of psychological health can be significantly improved during only a few

Aura radius progression

Aura radius progression

hours. The only quick measurement of this could be the radius of the aura, since it depends on the emotional, cardio, mental and psychological health. The participants were measured upon arrival, after special Yoga session that was designed based on the blockages in the meridians averaged to the number of the participants. The third point of measuring was completed after consumption of the raw food prepared mostly from the local plants, nuts and sprouts and after the walk in the forest.

As it is easily seen on the chart there is the significant difference between the radius when we started and when we measured the third time.

Also need to mention that one of the layers in the auric field is electromagnetic radiation which is captured by Kirlian photography. The major organ that produces electromagnetic field in the human body is heart therefore auric field detects the condition of cardiovascular system as well along with psychological health, spiritual development and amount of energy.

Daily-Meridians-Circuit-04-Large-812x1024*Most of the blockages were in the Heart, Lung, Spleen and Gallbladder meridians.

The Yoga poses used: All of the variations of Bhudjangasana, variations Pashimottanasana, crossed legged Pashimottanasana and Uttanasana, Vasistasana with side openers, etc.

And the ones who know what this means will understand what it is to just simply be beside this kind of people. Their knowledge about Nature, Spirit, Soul, Body and everything else is simple and based on their own experience.

It was very easy to choose detoxing foods for this retreat.  We always look at the Nature, at what it brings to us at the particular season. Now it is season of root veggies and cabbage. The best detoxifying root vegetable is beet root, because beets are extremely high in plant ‘flavonoids’ and beta-carotene. In fact,  eating beets (and carrots) can help stimulate and improve overall liver function.

Sweet Carrot SaladFor the sweet carrot salad take

  • 3 carrots
  • 1 big apple
  • juice from 1/4 of lemon
  • olive oil

Peel the skin off the apple, grate carrots and apples, whisk lemon juice, olive oil and the salad is ready.

Korean Carrot Sala Korean Carrot Saladd

  • 4 carrots
  • 1 golden beetroot
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2  lemon
  • pinch of Korean spices
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 2 tbl spoons of sunflower oil
  • pinch of brown sugar

Shred carrots, beet root and onion, put onions on top, then salt, sugar and spices. Whisk lemon juice and oil. Mix everything.

Since cabbage has cleansing properties due to their high content of glucosinolates, sulfur-containing compounds that are converted into active forms isothiocyanates and indoles which  may prevent cancer by promoting the elimination of potential carcinogens from the body. It is also high in vitamin K and C. And what about apples? Let’s just mention that they help to eliminate heavy metals from the body without mentioning anything else.

Here are two salads

Classic cabbage salad

  • Cabbage Salad1/4 cabbage
  • 1 medium sized carrot
  • 1 beet root
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 2 tbl spoons of sunflower oil
  • 1/4 of lemon

Shred cabbage very thinly. put some sea salt on top, whisk lemon juice and start pressing cabbage with your hands. When it gives juice add shredded carrots and beet root. Add oil and mix up everything.

Purple salad

  • Purple cabbage Salad1/2 purple cabbage
  • 1 big sour apple
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 1/4 lemon
  • 1 tbl spoon olive oil

Shred cabbage, whisk lemon juice, add salt and start pressing cabbage until it gives juice. Add shredded apple and oil and mix.

How to build kitchen DIY – part 1

If you want to save thousands by building kitchen yourself you can do exactly the same as we did when we decided that we want beautiful little kitchen by the first Fall retreat. And by doing this you already follow Rule#1 – time constraint.

Rule#2: before you begin to look for anything you have to measure, and measure, and measure.

Actually, enough rules! Let’s begin. Go online and shop around for the granite anywhere you like. I would suggest to check kijiji, craigslist and local habitat Re-Store building shops, but to tell you the truth, kijiji rules! For exaple we got 3 pieces of gorgeous 3rd grad granite with all of the nosings for $100.

I spent a few days looking on kijiji and craigslist, but when I went to ReStore Habitat for Humanity at Newmarket I saw brand new unfinished kitchen doors.

IMG_2226[1]Well, it took quite a while to select pieces by their height, width and profile, but finally I chose 25 doors and paid $100 for all this treasure.

I knew that I will be able to stain them into any color I like, but I want to play around and achieve slightly distressed look.

At the next day we went to Home Depot and bought 3 pieces of melamine (3x$35) asked the staff to cut it as per our measurements.

IMG_2229[1]Now these pieces can fit into any size of the car.

Usually the first three cuts Home Depot does for free and then charges just $1 for any additional cuts. IMG_2231[2]

We finished firs day of the weekend by building 3 cabinets and staining 9 doors

If your work requires a lot of standing

Plantar Fascia

Drawing of Plantar Fascia: yellow – ligaments, purple – plantar fascia

If your work requires a lot of standing or walking a foot here, two there, turning around, then this variation of Vajrasana (or Virasana, or Hero pose) is for you. This is for people who have issues with their feet such as swelling, pain in feet after work, pain in heels, etc. This can also be applied to runners, especially the ones who strike the ground with their heels.  Most likely the back of the legs are very tight and it affects the major train of fascia that runs at the back of the body.

If this is not looked after then it could lead to Plantar Fasciitis, if it is not there already. Let’s take a look at why and how modified Vajrasana can help in this case. Let’s get into the pose, but with a different approach. Let’s curl our toes under and sit on our heels.

stretching plantar fascia

Modified Vajrasana

If it is absolutely impossible to lower your buttocks to your heels then place a rolled towel between your calves and thighs to create some space so you can relax into the pose (even though I have never heard anybody who could possibly be relaxed in this pose).

Please, don’t sit in this pose longer than 4-5 minutes. When you finish gently (and this is important, because joints become truly fragile when you stretch them close to 5 minutes!) rock forward into tabletop position and tap your toes off the floor like crazy.

After this you can get into Adho Mukho Svanasana and/or Prasarita Padatonasana (and sankrit spelling really varies from book-to-book).
